Which filter type is the right one?
HEPA permanent filter or disposable filter? This question is probably asked by almost everyone who is about to purchase an air purifier with HEPA classification. Many buyers opt for an air purifier with a washable permanent filter. The fact that some air purifiers have washable HEPA filters is often a selling point for prospective buyers.
The main reason for this is, of course, to avoid the costs of regularly replacing filters. However, this is often a fallacy. The reason for this is that water cannot neutralize viruses, bacteria, germs or other harmful substances. Otherwise, you could disinfect with normal tap water.
If you really want to breathe safe and clean indoor air for a long time, the use of replaceable filters is essential. The reason for this is that deposits can build up on the filter over time. This occurs particularly inside the appliance, i.e. on the side walls of the filter housing. In households with smokers and pets, it is particularly advisable to replace the filter frequently, as odors can become trapped inside the filter.
